Maggie T is one! Our baby is officially a toddler. While I'm already feeling sad that we no longer have a baby, it is pretty fun to see Maggie strutting her stuff around the house. I'm pretty sure she tried to flat-out run the other day trying to chase Declan, and now when we go for neighborhood walks she likes to walk the walk rather than riding in the stroller (translation: the pace is something close to glacial). Luckily she is still pretty cuddly. She loves to give hugs and often goes in for the lean-in when she wants to snuggle. Maggie really loves her brothers and they frequently elicit the biggest laughs from her. She is usually interested in what they are up to, unless she finds something more interesting in the fridge or dishwasher, her two favorite hang outs. She used to stay a few words, but she has resorted to signing, pointing, and grunting. She'll repeat words like ball or book and phrases like row row or thank you, but when left to her own devices usually goes with the sign/point/grunt combo. One thing anyone that has been around for breakfast has learned is do NOT lose focus when feeding her yogurt. If you dare get up from the chair or take a bite of your own yogurt, you will get a mean point/grunt/yell combo from Maggs until she is happily being fed again. She knows what she likes! Happy birthday to our sweet girl!
She woke up to a serenade from her mom and brothers (Dad was already at work. Maggs is our latest sleeper).
Had to capture her at one of her favorite hang-outs.
Maggie and Declan had their one- and three-year appointments on Maggie's birthday, and Maggie had to get 6 (!) shots so we had to go out for her first ice cream to compensate for a cruel start to the day.
So far, so good.
Taking matters into her own hands.
Yep, she likes it!
These two goons ate their weight in birthday cake ice cream.
Another thing that happened on Maggie's birthday was we started potty training Declan. However, at the time of this post, we have already given up. As you can see, he likes wearing undies (especially Avengers ones a size too big).
He even models them!
But he is NOT happy about sitting on the potty.
Remember the last post about Declan - obstinate, stubborn, etc. Yeah, we're going to wait a bit rather than fight this fight.
We rounded out Maggie's birthday with a trip to the pool playground and tennis courts, which is where we do a lot of super hero work.
.
Avengers (or Incredibles, or Justice League - you pick) unite!
We're surrounded by lava, if you couldn't tell. You may not realize just how much lava is in Greenwood Village. It appears to be everywhere. Thank goodness we're supers.
Birthday kisses from her big brothers.
She's on a spaceship.
