Roar! We Have a One Year Old!

Our little Declan is one! He is a very fun and funny little guy. Some of his favorite things are doing laps around the house, walking around outside preferably carrying a bat or golf club, laughing at his brother, reading books, going for wagon rides, eating, and generally trying to act like a big boy like his brother as much as he can. He doesn't seem to be aware of their age difference.  He is a very determined (and very stubborn) little dude. Declan is doing a mix of signing and talking. He loves to say book, ball, and dog, and his favorite sign is please. As in more food, please. What a wonderful year it has been!

Declan had a dino-mite first birthday party. We were so lucky to have Nana in town and so many friends and family members over to celebrate. Since blueberry pancakes are Declan's favorite food, we hosted a breakfast birthday party. It was so fun to watch Declan and Liam and all of their friends playing with (or at least next) to each other, and running around everywhere.  We had 14 kids under three and a half years old running around - watch where you step! We were lucky to have great weather, great company, and great fun.  Happy birthday Declan!

The birthday boy doing his favorite thing - walking in the back yard with a bat.
Apparently it is all the rage for one year olds to walk with a big stick. Ella prefers a driver.
 Mills sisters!

Is that Mr. T hiding behind that racket? Hi, Tommy!
Guess what Liam played all morning?
 Danny boy.
The birthday boy with his Nana.
 Dinosaur cake!
That dino laid some big eggs!
 Declan dug right in (shocking).
While we were all focused on the birthday boy, the big brother started eating the candle. Classic. Apparently wax tastes good if it has enough icing on it.
 Maddens!
A few more shots of the happy cake eater...

Think Liam liked it? Yes, he is licking his plate.
 A few more fistfuls...
 ...and we're done.
 Mavis on the move!
 Back to playing!
