For Fall Break this year, we stayed in state and took the kids to one of our favorite places, Crested Butte. It was a magical week of family fun. No, seriously. we had a fabulous time together. It was so nice to get away, and it truly felt like a vacation.
We rented a condo in a golf community about 5 minutes from town. It was perfect because we had a ton of space and there were great walks and things to explore.
We took the kids hiking on West Maroon Trail. This is the trail we took when we hiked to Aspen from CB. It's pretty and we turned around before it got too steep.
On our drive home, in between Shofield Pass and Gothic, we stopped at Emerald Lake. It is truly emerald green and so beautiful!
The kids have not gone out to dinner since the start of the COVID pandemic. We ate outside on Elk St. several nights when we were in CB, which was a fun treat for all.
Dad and kids adventure while Mom was working.
Each kid got to pick something they wanted to do while on vacation. Liam wanted to go to the skate park, which he did several times yet we have no pictures. Maggie's choice was the highlight of her vacation, and a family first for all of us together, horseback riding!
Maggie and Desiree. She was so, so happy.
Liam and we don't remember his horse's name.
Declan and Eve
Dad and Corona, as in the beer, not the virus. ;)
Mom and Carson, who was definitely the naughtiest horse of the bunch, and a jumper.
One of our favorite songs on a bench during a date night.
We hiked straight up the ski mountain to get to the top of the lift where there was a sweet disc golf course. It was really steep but worth it!
The kids said it was their favorite course.
Reward for our efforts: books and ice cream.
BLM on Elk St.
Declan's request was to have a family battle. We walked to the lake by our condo to have said battle, and it could not have had a more stunning backdrop. A fitting end to the trip.
