Sailing

John and I took out first ever sailing trip, and it was a blast! About a year ago, John was working and I was at Bring Out the Bags with the kids while on crunches with a broken foot. My friend Nancy asked "want to bid on a sailing trip with us?" and in my state of of self-pity (and after a quick text to John), I said yes! Royce and Tara hosted us for the weekend. and all of our donations went to Bags of Fun, which we are always happy to support, and even more so after seeing just how much those bags can brighten a kid in the hospital's stay. Nana flew into watch the kids (more on that later), and we flew out to San Diego.
Meet our home for the weekend, Gretta.

We sailed around Coronado on the first day, took a dip, and then headed back to the dock for a night on the town.

We are so cool.

Destroyer!
We had a great dinner and fun night out in the gaslamp district.
The next day we set sail around Point Loma and anchored in Mission Bay.

This was a hilarious attempt to get 3 people to shore.
Better!

We grilled on the boat and enjoyed a beautiful sunset.

Those who rowed to shore got a different view:

This guy liked being at the helm.
The ride back to the marina was so eventful. After taking a dip in the deep ocean, we were soon surrounded by hundreds of dolphins!
And the Navy escorting a submarine out to sea!
Meanwhile, Babcia and Grandpa took Liam for the weekend while Nana and Aunt Peggy took the Declan and Maggie on an adventure in the Sand Dunes. They all had a blast.
