L Dudds literally had his dream birthday: 5k High Plains Fun Run, followed by a soccer game, then a baseball game, and round it out with a sleepover. A perfect day in the mind of our 8-year-old, who loves sports as much as ever. Liam had a great 2nd grade year. It was fun to watch him grow as a student and a friend. He really has taken to the responsibility we've given him - he rides his bike to and from school by himself, makes himself breakfast and generally takes care of himself these days. He still loves to be helpful, and he still really loves playing sports. Kid pitch baseball was new this year, and fun for Liam to be a pitcher. We also had a great last season with the Cheetahs soccer team, who have been a part of our lives (especially John and Liam's) for 4 years over 8 seasons. His favorite subject in school is math, and after a year of reading everything Jake Maddox and Matt Christopher have to offer (sports books, obviously), he's able to read Harry Potter books on his own now, and that has been fun to see him obsessed with reading them (like his mama). He's probably happiest when playing sports with his dad. We're lucky to have such a kind, helpful boy who is always looking out for others. We love you, Liam!
Ready to race.
With his birthday buddy, Tyler's mom, Jasmine.
Finishing strong!
Dad and Liam did the full 5k, and Declan, Maggie, and I ran the mile. D crushed it, and I only piggybacked Maggie 1/3 of the way. ;)
We were a little busy with the run, 3 soccer games, and a baseball game, so we didn't get any pictures of the other sporting events, but trust me, they happened.
It was a great day. Happy birthday, Liam!
